Mayor Linda Buchanan has teamed up with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to support the growing number of people in our community in need of food and other essential items. The past year has been difficult, but for some it has been harder than we can even imagine. Approximately 15% of North Vancouver residents were out of work specifically due to COVID-19, and 10% of people in the City of North Vancouver worry that their food will run out before they receive their next paycheck.
Each week the Greater Vancouver Food Bank serves hundreds of people on the North Shore, most of whom are children or seniors. In our community they are partnered with the North Shore Neighbourhood House, Sage Transition Housing, and the Canadian Mental Health Association. These organizations work tirelessly to support the health and wellbeing of people in our community. But they need our help.
