ODNW Investiture

Two from St Agnes to be recognized tomorrow

Every two years the Diocese of New Westminter honours and gives special recognition to lay members who have given outstanding service over a significant period of time in their volunteer ministry. Parish nominees join with the Archbishop's nominees to be inducted as members of the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster. The Investiture Service takes places every other year.

This year, our parish nominee is Judy Brear. Judy has been an active member of St Agnes for several decades and has served as a Sundauy School teacher, Warden, Synod delegate, and faithful volunteer.

Shannon Muir was nominated by Archbishop Melissa Skelton in recognition of her work as chair of the Diocesan Refugee Unit.

We are very proud of both Judy and Shannon!

The Service of Investiture takes place this Saturday, November 3rd at 10:30am at The Massey Theatre in New Westminster.

Bells of Peace

Bells of Peace

Sunday, November 11 at 4:15PM

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War. Close to 61,000 Canadians were killed during the war, and another 172,000 were wounded.

To mark this anniversary, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Government of Canada have invited churches across the country to mark the occasion with the ringing of church bells at dusk on November 11, once for each year for a total of 100.

St Agnes Anglican Church will be participating in this special Bells of Peace service in partnership with RCL Lynn Valley Branch 114 . The church bell will be rung every five seconds for a count of 100. During this time the names on the St Agnes War Memorial will be read aloud.

The service will begin at 4:15 pm on November 11. All are welcome.
